Mindfulness programs
Dr. Felver has a longstanding interest in mindfulness as a practitioner, researcher, clinician, and educator. He has completed advanced training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and he is interested in adapting these various intervention modalities for youth, schools, and families. He has developed and facilitated mindfulness programs for youth and adults in a variety of settings, including public schools, hospitals, and community-based health clinics.
Dr. Felver is the co-author of Mindfulness in the Classroom: An Evidence-Based Program to Reduce Disruptive Behavior and Increase Academic Engagement (Felver & Singh, 2020), which describes the Soles of the Feet (SOF) mindfulness program. SOF teaches a simple self-regulatory strategy to reduce aggressive and disruptive behavior. Meta-analytic results indicate that SOF is an effective evidence-based practice for reducing disruptive behavior. The full SOF curriculum, including a thorough description of all the procedures, is available for purchase from New Harbinger Publications or from Amazon.
Please email Dr. Felver at contact@joshfelverphd.com if you are interested training in mindfulness programs or SOF.
